Few things are as comforting as freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. Warm from the oven, with gooey chocolate and a golden exterior, they’re a treat that never goes out of style.
Ingredients
2 ¼ cups flour
1 cup butter (softened)
¾ cup sugar
¾ cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper. In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, which helps create a tender cookie texture. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring just until combined to avoid overmixing. Fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the dough. Scoop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them apart to allow for spreading. Bake until the edges are golden brown while the centers remain slightly soft. Allow cookies to cool on the sheet briefly before transferring to a wire rack.
Tips
Slightly underbake for gooey centers.
Use room-temperature butter for best results.
