Spicy Thai Basil Chicken is a vibrant, aromatic dish that’s ready in under 30 minutes. Tender chicken is cooked with garlic, chilies, and colorful vegetables, then tossed with fragrant Thai basil for an irresistible flavor. It’s perfect served over steamed jasmine rice for a quick weeknight dinner or casual lunch.
Ingredients
500g chicken breast (sliced thin)
3 cloves garlic (minced)
2 red chilies (sliced)
1 onion (sliced)
1 red bell pepper (sliced)
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp fish sauce
1 tsp sugar
1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves
2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and sliced chilies, sautéing briefly until fragrant. Add the sliced chicken and cook until browned on all sides, stirring frequently to ensure even cooking. Toss in the onion and bell pepper, cooking until slightly tender but still crisp.
Stir in soy sauce, fish sauce, and sugar, mixing thoroughly so the chicken and vegetables are coated evenly. Remove from heat and fold in the fresh basil leaves just before serving to preserve their aroma. Serve hot over steamed jasmine rice or noodles for a complete meal.
Tips
Slice chicken thinly for faster, even cooking.
Adjust the number of chilies for your preferred spice level.
